Lobuche
Trip Facts
Duration : 21 days
Difficulty Level : 3
Group Size : 2 to 12
Maximum Altitude : 6120 m
Less well known and less known than Mera Peak or Island Peak, the Lobuche Peak 6120 m trekking peak offers a very interesting climb and one of the most beautiful views of the Khumbu range: Everest, Lhotse, Pumori, Ama Dablam, to Makalu.
To acclimate to the altitude we will climb the Gokyo Peak and we will join the base camp by the Chola Pass. Climbing without being difficult is a bit more technical and interesting than those of Mera Peak and Island Peak. After the base camp, a camp of altitude is necessary towards 5100 m at the edge of a small superb mountain lake. From very early in Camp 1 we go up the moraine then we move on slabs and after 3 hours we arrive on the slope of the glacier. Then it is globally a ridge of snow that leads to the summit of Lobuche East.
Difficulty climbing Lobuche Peak
The ascent of Lobuche is not difficult technically. However, you do need a good physical condition and tents at 5100 m is necessary. The final slope is inclined at about 40-45 ° and 400 m high.
It is necessary to be able to cling to the ascent and descent in slopes of about 45 °, know how to use a descender, to walk roped, know how to use a jumar, know how to self-insure and ensure a second, etc. During the descent, there is a 30 m rappel to make in the rocky part.
You must be equipped with all its mountaineering equipment: metal cleats, ice ax, shoulder harness, 1 ice pin, 2 self-closing snap hooks, jumper, cord, front, lanyard insurance, a survival blanket, etc.
